Some of you may recognise our Christmas photo - seeing as it's winter, we thought this was best for our cards! According to legend, Taranaki used to be situated near Tongariro in the middle of the North Island until a fight broke out over Pihanga and Taranaki was banished to the West Coast. It was renamed Egmont by the pakeha in the mid 1800s when taken from the Maori people.
